We are already in the 2012 election season. Before we know it will be November of 2012. Educate yourself on all the issues. select a candidate that best match your beliefs on the issues. If you don’t have the appropriate ID-get it. Register to vote. Mobilize others to vote. Effect change on your state and local level. Effect change on a national level. The laws passed by GOP-led statehouses is marginalizing your voice and rights. This is another attack on the American citizenry; this is an attempt to marginalize the voice of the poor, students, Hispanics, and African-Americans.

Today marks a milestone in the history of jazz. In 1959,one of the GREATEST albums ever made was released, Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue. A work of fantastic improvisational prowess; Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Julian”Cannonball” Adderley, Jimmy Cobb, Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, and Paul Chambers. There was no complete score. Each of them only had a set of scales that outlined the range of their improvisation. I listen to this CD regularly. It has not and will never go out of style. It’s just as fresh and vibrant today as it was in 1959. It is truly timeless; it is a classic.

It’s hard enough to make a film. To guide a vision and bring words to life on film is not an easy task. It is hard for any filmmaker, especially for a filmmaker of color. Miracle of St. Anna was a great film, one of Spike Lee’s best. For the film not to be promoted properly is a crime. The fine fits the punishment and may give other companies pause before not honoring their commitments, especially to African-American filmmakers.
