A headstone in a cemetery has a name, sometimes a title like “beloved wife/husband” or “beloved mother/father”, a year of birth and the year of transition. Have you ever noticed the dash between the two years? A dash is all that represents our lives. The wealth of experiences, the loves, the highs, the lows, the successes and achievements everything that we represent in this brief time in this plane of existence is summed up by a simple unspectacular dash.
What are you doing to make your dash the best? Your dash is not dictated by material wealth. Your dash is defined by the substance of your character. How are you trying to become the BEST person you can? Do you LOVE yourself? Do you actually LOVE and CARE for others? Or, do you love and care for what others can do for you?
Our time in this existence is short. We need to make the time full of the blessings God intends for us while we are here. That doesn’t mean we wait for God to do it for us. We must put some work in ourselves; create the building blocks in ourselves, so that God will have something to work with to continue to infuse our life with blessings.
Remember the dash and make that dash as rich and fulfilling as you can each day.
