The price of freedom is poverty. As I have written before, because Haiti was the first to gain its independence by the sword and defeated the great Napoleon, Haiti has been penalized over generations for their accomplishment. The French has a moral and ethical responsibility to repay Haiti. Haiti has the responsibility to use the funds to increase the life, education, and health of her citizenry.
