The 10 Wildest Rap Beefs Of All Time

By Jeff Rosenthal
The other day, Kendrick Lamar took his guest verse on Big Sean’s “Control” as an opportunity to casually invite all his friends to fight to the death: “I’m usually homeboys with the same n***as I’m rhymin’ with / But this is hip-hop and them n***as should know what time it is / And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale / Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake / Big Sean, Jay Electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller / I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n***as / Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n***as / They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n***as . . .”
Kendrick’s verse is technically more of a healthy competitive challenge between friends than an actual threat. But it got us thinking about the greatest rap beefs ever, from the deeply silly to the all-too-serious. Here’s our definitive countdown:
10. Eminem vs. The Source

Eminem
Peter Pakvis/Redferns
How could something so one-sided be so enjoyable? Benzino, a two-bit Boston rapper-slash-editor, somehow held a lot of influence at The Source magazine. In 1999, he promoted his group’s Made Men album with full-page ads in the magazine and a rave review. Conflict of interest alert! Benzino made things even worse for himself when he attacked Eminem on dubious racial grounds. Em came down on him like a combat boot on an ant with “Nail in the Coffin” and “The Sauce,” where he chuckled while imagining Benzino being held out of a window. The beef continued for a while after that, but in the end Benzino was a total laughingstock and Eminem was still Eminem.

Fergie Officially Changes Her Name
By Andrew Asare
Stacy Ann Ferguson is no more, the name that is. The front woman for Black Eyed Peas was granted Friday (August 16) to officially change her name to Fergie Duhamel, TMZ reports. The singer, who is married to actor Josh Duhamel, requested the change last month. According to legal documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, she wanted to “conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years.”
Taking similar steps to Knicks baller named Ron Artest two years ago, now Metta World Peace, the “Fergalicious” singer is required to publish a notice in the local newspaper for four weeks.

How to make your smartphone battery last as long as possible
We would never dream of rationing daily smartphone, or tablet use because there’s always a power socket or USB close at hand, but keeping batteries topped up and working well while on holiday is not so simple. With that in mind here are our top tips to squeeze as much use as possible out of your mobile device between charges.
Keep it cool
If venturing to a hot country, the change in temperature is going to have a serious impact on any battery-powered device. Keep phones and tablets out of direct sunlight and heat if possible.
Change the charging routine
When the device is plugged in, make sure you unplug it as soon as the battery meter reads 100%. Keeping a phone or tablet charging any longer creates heat build-up which in turn will damage the battery’s longevity.
Adjust settings
Dimming a device’s screen brightness will increase battery life, as will turning off Bluetooth wifi and GPS. Try using a standard ringtone rather than vibrate and make sure that when an app is not in use it isn’t left open. Unless closed down completely it is still running in the background and therefore putting strain on the device’s processor. If your phone or tablet has a sleep setting, set it for the shortest interval so that it shuts down within 30 seconds of use. Also, don’t use it as a watch: clicking on the homekey or standby key just to check the time can drain the battery.

India.Arie Hopes Her ‘Lost’ Album, Sung in Hebrew and English, Can Find Release
By Gary Graff
India.Arie is hoping the successful reception for “Songversation,” her first album in four years, will open the door for the one that got away.
Prior to recording “Songversation” — which made a Top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 and the R&B Albums charts — Arie recorded another album called “Open Door,” on which she collaborated with Israeli artist Idan Raichel.
“I spent three years on that album,” Arie tells Billboard. “I funded most of it with my personal money, but I learned a big lesson about being able to let go. And I knew I had to let (‘Open Door’) go because we could not agree on the business part. If the business wasn’t in order, the album would have been a failure; I’m clear on that. So I was like, ‘I’m not doing this. I shelved it in late October of 2012, and on Nov. 1 I started working on ‘Songversation.'”
