As I had written, in Is that all? Is all forgiven there is a deeper question to ask. Does  $18.5 million replace 22 years of a person’s life? That is roughly $841,000 for each year incarcerated. Is that enough? I would submit that it is not. To solve this problem we have to address many other issues from institutional racism to corrupt police to prosecutorial misconduct. I am glad that Mr. Newton won his judgement, but I am sure he would rather have 22 years of his freedom; his life back.

We must take better care of ourselves by eating better (that means ditch the BBQ, the McD’s, etc), getting regular exercise (start by just walking around the block), and stop smoking & drinking. In addition, pick up a hobby (not the kids) but, something you enjoy and can relax while doing it. Finally, go to the doctor regularly and ASK QUESTIONS!

The deep-seated global vendetta against Haiti is appalling. The United States has not released its pledged aid (thanks to Sen. Tom Coburn-let him know you do not agree), so in some respects the rest of the global community has that as an excuse,”…the United States is a close neighbor of Haiti and has not helped them.” I believe once we can get our funds released then just maybe other countries will follow suit.

Hopefully, Rupert Murdoch will command his minions to cancel Glenn Beck’s tirades on his network. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will happen. The only way it will occur is if the show becomes the lowest ad revenue generator for Fox News. No advertising and sponsorship equals no profit equals quick cancellation. Which is why the letter from the Tides Foundation CEO becomes even more important.
