Desperate times

As we all waited for the “Decision” to be announced by LeBron James on ESPN last night, Ray Williams former Celtic who played with Larry Bird, Robert Parish, and Kevin McHale was possibly sleeping in his car. I remember watching Ray Williams play against Bernard King and my favorite NBA team the NY Knicks. This is a sad, disturbing, cautionary tale that all athletes and fans need to read.

Desperate times – The Boston Globe.

189/176

No this is not a blood pressure reading, God forbid. Today is the 189th day of 2010. We are over the halfway mark for this year. We have 176 days until the end of the year. So, how are you holding up against the goals you set and resolutions you made 190 days ago? Are you making progress? Have you had to restructure your plan? Have you given up? Or, are you plain old confused and don’t know where to start?

Take today and the weekend to restart, re-evaluate, recharge, and if necessary set new goals. Over the past 189 days lots have happened some great and some not so great. If you are making progress towards the goals and resolutions you set for yourself on New Year’s eve, GREAT!! Keep up positive work and  progress. If you have fallen off or never started, this is for you.

What seems the simplest thing to do is often the hardest. That is to develop a plan. You know what you want to achieve, well to plan it you must calm you mind, heart, and spirit. So find yourself a quiet spot and time to be with your thoughts and focus your mind on the goal. Set a realistic time frame and develop intermediary goals to achieve all leading towards the goal. Your intermediary goals are like steps up a ladder to your ultimate goal. If 176 days is not enough, that’s fine. You know you will have that same goal in 2011, but you can take comfort on December 31, 2010 that you will have achieved one or more steps by that time.

Achieving the intermediary goals are cause for celebration. You have won a small battle against forces that would rather see you fail. Those celebrations you have will refill your tank and reinforce your will to obtain your ultimate goal. Celebrate and savor each rung of your ladder of achievement.

In your planning make sure you identify those people in your life who support your endeavours. Do not become single-minded and become some focused that you forget to interact and appreciate those who care and love you. Those are the people who will celebrate each of your successes with you or from afar. They can serve as sounding boards, coaches, and trouble shooters for you in achieving your goals. Always remember your successes is never achieved alone. We always need help, never be so prideful to not seek help or accept help.

Make today, 189/176 your call to action. It’s never too late. All we have to do is plan for your success.

Lil Kim-How Many Licks?

Nikki Minaj is a fantastic and great rapper but, before her there was Lil Kim. I really don’t understand the reasons for the debate. Lil Kim was a trailblazer and Nikki Minaj is following in her trail. Lil Kim is the sensei and Nikki is the apprentice. There’s nothing wrong with that. When Nikki goes multi-platinum multiple times for her own solo CD’s (I’m still waiting pensively for the first) maybe the debate can be revisited. But for now Lil Kim is still the sensei.

Earth to Rush Limbaugh: Barack Obama is no Black Panther

Thank You Dr. Watkins! Excellent article. If you have read the posts earlier today on the site, Rush Limbaugh again spewed divisive propaganda on the radio. I voiced my displeasure and inaccuracy of his statement and in this article Dr. Watkins does the same, much more eloquently.

Earth to Rush Limbaugh: Barack Obama is no Black Panther.
