Miley Cyrus-Can’t Be Tamed

Artistically & conceptually this is a fantastic video. I understand Miley is 17 years old and attempting to break from the “Hannah Montana” character. This video is a break. I think Miley has to understand that she is still a pre-teen icon and be conscious of that at least for the next few years as she matures and migrates her existing audience and expands it. This video is a tad too risqué for a 10-12 year old to watch. On her decision to forgo college and focus on her career, I do not agree. Where are her parents? She can still have a career and an education , there’s 3 months available in the summer to tour and winter break and other times to be in the studio. There are many kids who work and go to school, not just child stars. An education opens your mind. I think her decision is extremely short-sighted.

Now Playing: Wal-Mart’s Theater of Public Alienation

Even though this was written by a known Wal-Mart basher. Everyone needs to pay attention to their surroundings and take particular care in malls and parking lots, not just Wal-Mart’s. Don’t be a victim!

Black Child Removed from Class Over ‘Hair Oil’ Dispute

First the police incident of the woman being punched by a police officer. Now this incident with a young child. Both happened in Seattle, WA. Is this coincidental or is there a problem of race in Seattle?

More Portland police stops for African-Americans

No-duh! This is an occupational hazard nationally, Driving While Black. However, based on the population breakdown the ratio of stops are suspect. The African-American community in Portland must make themselves involved in the training and re-training of officers from a diversity and police procedural perspective.

The toll of racism?

This article is three years old. It still however, holds a resonance for Black men. We have to take care of ourselves. We face many pressures, some of which are not our creation nor are they under our control. We need to stay healthy for ourselves and our loved ones.

One crime, six trials and a 30-minute guilty verdict

30 Minutes! Was that really fair and reasonable deliberation for this case? If you have read about this case as I have posted news on the site, you know this is not the end. I believe this case should be moved out of Winona. I do not believe Mr. Flowers can ever receive a fair trial in Winona nor in the county Winona is in.
