This information was not a surprise. As the saying goes, “When America sneezes, Black America has the flu.” However, the devastating impact to children was very surprising. Yes, they will live with the generational debt that the current and previous administration has created. What is of significance is the fact that as children they are living through having to move,enter the shelter system, move in with other family members, or live in an unsafe environment on the street due to foreclosures and evictions affecting families. Children are being subjected to more talk around the dinner table regarding the inability to make “ends meet” among the adults. The untold psychological impacts of these events and many more like poor health care and education will effect that child as he/she matures. It is those psychological effects, if not exercised and treated that can be dangerous to the family of America in the next generations.  Hopefully, as the article discussed the church and community organizations will continue being lighthouses in the darkness for children and their parents as they navigate these trying times.
