The American middle class have been disappearing way before the current recession. For minorities and those who does not have the educational background of Maria Ortiz this recession turned into a depression long ago. In some respects the earlier successes of Ms. Ortiz may have made her unfortunate current circumstances much, much worse from a psyche perspective. The clear and present question is how can we turn domestic job downsizing and job exporting by American corporations into job creation? I believe American corporations can maintain profitability and productivity without excessive “offshoring” of jobs to other countries.
