Ben Jealous has in some respects has energized and embraced the youth movement, which to me is anyone below the age of 45. In some respects prior to his appointment the organization had lost contact with the younger generations. He has helped to rebuild that connection. No organization is perfect, nor is any one person. Was there a breakdown? Yes. Was there a lack of analysis of the situation and statement? Yes. Is there a lack of leadership? As the recently approved revision of  sentencing standards between powder and crack cocaine and the rehearing of the Troy Davis case I would submit definitely not.
