Many people are waking up today still tired from watching the news coverage of late last night. Many are waking up to the news that Osama Bin Laden was killed. All of us share in the unwavering pride and the appreciation to those who serve this nation in the military and intelligence professions.
This morning as a new dawn rises so does a new dawn for the United States. A ten-year national nightmare has ended. One chapter has closed, and today we turn a new page. What new story will we write? Today we are again united. Chants of “USA, USA” abound. Let’s not forget this moment. Let’s not forget what and who we are. Black, brown, white, and yellow are united. We are all Americans.
The next chapter we write needs to be about the unity we all share. The end of racism. The end of inequality. The end of discrimination. The strength of this great republic lies in the unity of the “melting pot.” Last night America was given the gift of hope again. America was able to drop our collective “bag of rocks.” Today is a new day, let’s live as such. Let’s remain vigilant, let’s stay united, let’s put aside our petty differences to work for the common good of this nation.
