Today he would have celebrated his 86th birthday. Malcolm X who became Malik El-Shabazz had message like all great leaders that transcends his time and resonates into our future. I was not yet born to bear witness to his message of Black Pride, Black Independence, and Black Love. That message, his message my parents and other influential adults instilled in me as a youth. His message will never be forgotten, nor should it be. As we move forward into the 21st century and beyond his message is of the most urgent importance to instill in ourselves and our children.

Let’s hear his message of Black Nationalism in his own voice. Happy Birthday Brother Malcolm! “Our shining black prince” has been and will always be missed.
