What have I heard this morning? Silence. That’s what I hear. This week he shut up the birthers. Saturday night he shut up Donald Trump. Last night, President Obama  not just preempted Celebrity Apprentice but achieved what two previous Presidents were not able to. He achieved the goal of bringing Osama Bin Laden to justice while weathering venomous attacks against his character. He achieved the goal while keeping operational secrecy in the city where secrets are never kept; Washington DC. Barack H.Obama kept another promise to America last night and he deserves all the accolades that this nation can bestow. He is the Commander-in-Chief. He is the President of the United States. Ever since election day he has deserved the respect of being the person freely elected to the office. Many in this nation has not done so. Disrespectful? Yes. Unpatriotic? Certainly. Treasonous? In some countries most definitely. 

Saturday night the President attended the White House Correspondent’s Dinner knowing that a mere 24 hours before he ordered the operation to proceed to bring a man of evil to justice. He adroitly delivered a scathing comedic rebuke to Donald Trump and by extension all his detractors. Last night, he delivered the most important news this nation has waited for since the end of WWII. He did it as he has done everything throughout his Presidency; with class, with dignity, not with alacrity, but with the historical and cultural gravitas the moment required.

Every American today owes a debt of gratitude to the leadership of President Obama. His action speaks volumes and his words are not political rhetoric. He is the President of the United States. He is our President.
