James Brown & Luciano Pavarotti-It’s A Man’s World

“The Godfather of Soul”, “The Hardest Working Man In Show Business”, “Soul Brother Number One”, “Mr. Dynamite”, and as former general and Secretary of State Colin Powell named him “The Secretary of Soul and Foreign Minister of Funk” he is the incomparable, legendary James Brown. Before there was a Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Usher, or even Michael Jackson there was James Brown. Today would have been  his 78th birthday. This video is a vivid example of his global appeal, it is one of my favorite performances. Just listen to the applause at the end. Luciano Pavarotti, one of the greatest tenors of all-time was honored to share the stage with him. He was truly an American treasure.

Bin Laden’s death sparks brief outburst of respect from Bush-era Republicans

Seal of the President of the United States

The Guardian is a newspaper from the United Kingdom. It’s obvious to me that the crazy nonsense from the persons in the Republican party and others like Donald Trump is being interpreted abroad as a lack of respect to the office of the President of the United States. This does not bode well for this nation in the international community if we continue to behave like 2-year olds.

Chris Brown-She Ain’t You

Chris Brown’s tribute to Michael Jackson. Sampled from the King of Pop’s, “Human Nature” Chris Brown turns in an admirable performance. I like the song and the video.

Julian Assange: Facebook Is ‘Appalling Spy Machine’ (VIDEO)

Hate to ruin the FB party, but this underscores the need for our “social media” lives to be more distinct and separate from who we really are. Julian Assange has a valid point.

The Myth of Black Confederates Persists

This is a fascinatingly interesting article by Lynette Holloway. Based on the state of Black America today, I can certainly understand if there were slaves who served in the Confederate Army of their own will. The psychological trauma and physical torture of slavery could make some slaves fearful of change. Fearful of the freedom they craved for so long that it became an ethereal dream to them. White slave owners would not document it because we were property in their eyes and according to their laws. Two hundred years hence we may not want to face this possible reality in our history.
