Jennifer Hudson’s new self-titled disc is THE BEST r&b album so far this year. She has reinvigorated the “classic” r&b sound and updated it for today, exposing us to a “real” vocalist. Not one that relies on auto-tuning and other studio “tricks.” If you haven’t gotten it by now, Where You At?
Hmmm, is this on humanitarian grounds or is there some possible new “breakthrough” drug or technology that may make more money for the suppliers of those drugs? This is however, good news.

Your Drug is Yourself
“People can’t figure me out, they can’t process me, and I don’t expect them to. You can’t process me with the normal brain.”
“The only thing I’m addicted to right now is winning.”
“I am on a drug – it’s called Charlie Sheen.”
The statement I would like to focus on is the last one. I am not advocating any sort of drug use but, that single sentence has a profound meaning behind it. In my view its meaning is, we need to be euphoric about life. We need to be addicted to life. We need to be in love with and love ourselves.
Too many times life becomes a routine. We go to work, pay bills, take our kids here and there, go to the gym, etc. in these activities we lose touch with ourselves, the routine becomes our life and in turn, the zest and thrill we had in our youth becomes dull and distant. We substitute the routine and the desires and wishes of others for our own. That needs to stop. We have to be our own drug. We have to substitute the routine, the desires, the wants of others with the desires and wants of our own!
Happiness and its opposite is a choice we make. When we don’t take time for ourselves and surround our days with everything and everyone else’s trials and tribulations we wear ourselves down, we burn ourselves out. Take time out for yourself each day. Do something that only you may enjoy, set a goal for yourself that is for YOURSELF. Set out to accomplish that goal. Trust me; the routine will still be there. The mundane will still be there. The difference will be you. Get excited about you.
Your current situation does not define who and what you are. Life is like a book and every day we can write a new chapter. The power is and always will be within ourselves to achieve anything we set our hearts and minds to do. Start writing a new chapter, break the routine. Get HIGH on life. Get HIGH on yourself and what you can achieve. Your Drug Is Yourself!
